How do you uninstall Norton Antivirus 2001. I have tried almost everything and still no luck!?
I have downloaded Symantec Removal Utility File Version 2008.0.1.19. That is what Norton said to use for removal of older versions of Norton. It will not work either.
Yeah, symantec is a big problem... ok here's a few things you can do, but only if you don't plan to use norton/symantec right afterwards.
Go to Start> Run> Type msconfig and go to Services.
Uncheck everything that starts with Symantec/Norton.
Next go to Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and go to processes and terminate everything to do with norton/symantec.
Now go to My Computer and click on Search. First search Symantec then Norton and DELETE ALL FILES that come up. If it says a file can't be deleted look for it in processes in Task Manager.
Finally go to Start> Run> Type regedit. click CTRL+F and type Norton/Symantec and delete all findings again. Now when you go to Add/Remove it will sya it has already been deleted and remove it form the listsing.
Now just empty your Recycle Bin and reboot.
Hope that clears things up.
EDIT: Considering you got rid of alot of stuff there will eb alot of obsolete files and registry keys. To clear that up I recommend CCleaner, t will get rid of alot of useless files on your computer.
